American WW2 Medals and Badges
This is a WW2 US Army Good Conduct Medal in it's original box of issue complete with protective tissue paper. In mint condition, this is a complete set with metal lapel badge and ribbon bar. The GCM is the oldest of military decorations in the US armed forces. Awarded to naval personnel as early as 1869, it was only instituted for award to the Army as late as 1941,and was shared by the US Air Force, who didn't get their own unique award till 1963. Three consecutive years of good conduct were necessary for this award, and only enlisted personnel on active duty were elegible. This was reduced to one year in time of war.
