US National Defense Medal, early strike

This is a USA National Defense Medal from the Korean and Vietnam War period. This medal is a nice heavy early strike, in lovely condition, not one of the later light weight ones released for the Guly War. Obtained from a veteran in the USA.

Created in 1953, the National Defense Service Medal was intended to be a "blanket campaign medal" awarded to any member of the United States military who served honorably during a designated time period in which a "national emergency" had been declared.
