This is the Mosin-Nagant socket bayonet fitted to the early Model 1891 rifles, those manufactured prior to 1930, when the modified M1891/30 was introduced. The later model rifles were fitted with a foresight protector which prevented the fitting of this style bayonet. In very good condition, this bayonet is not blacked like the later ones, having a pleasant patina of age, no corrosion. Stamped with the Russian pre-1928 Ishevsk factory stamp of a bow and arrow, with serial number and also other eastern-type characters. An interesting and rare bayonet.
