Obsolete Calibre Swiss Schmidt-Rubin M1889 rifle **SOLD**

This is the Swiss Model 1889 rifle, the first of a series of rifles designed by Rudolph Schmidt and using Eduard Rubin's ammunition, which served the Swiss armed forces from 1889 right up into the 1950's until replaced with the SIG 510 or Sturmgewehr 57. Fed form a 12-round magazine, with straight-pull bolt design, in 7.5mm x 53.5 calibre, this rifle is of 'obsolete calibre' in that ammunition is no longer commercially available, and thus no deactivation or Firearms Licence is required for ownership. This particular example is in excellent authentic condition with all matching serial numbers throughout, and the serial number dates it to 1895, in fact the 5th rifle to be made that year. Able to be cocked and dry-fired, and fully field strippable, this rifle comes with detachable 12-round magazine, a strong leather sling, and original brass muzzle cover/foresight protector.

Our Price: £495.00   ( NOTE! inert ammo shown not included- it doesn't fit anyway of course!! it's the later 55mm case)

All obsolete calibre weapons sold by Jaybe Militaria are legal to own within the EU without the need for a Firearms Licence.
