Obsolete Calibre Swiss Schmidt-Rubin M1889 rifle, 1893 manufacture

This is the Swiss Model 1889 rifle, the first of a series of rifles designed by Rudolph Schmidt and using Eduard Rubin's ammunition, which served the Swiss armed forces from 1889 right up into the 1950's until replaced with the SIG 510 or Sturmgewehr 57. Fed form a 12-round magazine, with straight-pull bolt design, in 7.5mm x 53.5 calibre, this rifle is of 'obsolete calibre' in that ammunition is no longer commercially available, and thus no deactivation or Firearms Licence is required for ownership. This particular example is in very good authentic condition, with excellent finish to the steel and super furniture. All matching serial numbers throughout, including the red bolt handle, and the serial number dates it to early 1893. Able to be cocked and dry-fired and fully field strippable, with original leather sling and detachable 12-round magazine.
