Obsolete calibre Martini-Henry IC1 cavalry carbine, 1885 dated
This is a Martini-Henry mk IC1 .450/577" calibre cavalry carbine, produced from 1877 till 1889, during which time nearly 75,000 were made at the RSAF Enfield. This particular example was made at the Enfield factory in 1885, as marked on the breech side under the Victoria crown, and there are broad arrows and WD War Department inspection stamps in many places signifying British military use, and no foreign markings. Very good furniture with just the odd knocks, interesting butt markings, and good steel with most of it's original finish but showing some light corrosion in places. As with many of these guns, there is an armourer's cut across the breech just rear of the sights, which could easily be hidden if desired. A very nice example of this Victorian-era weapon, of which only one mark was made of the cavalry version. Cocks and dry-fires, and able to be stripped, this rifle comes with an original cleaning rod. Of obsolete calibre, no licence is required for ownership.
