This is the model 1884/98 III  bayonet for the WW2 German Mauser K98 infantry rifle . Marked E.PACKS & Sohn on one side of the ricasso and 870d on the other, 39 on the spine of the blade for the year of manufacture, this bayonet is in good sound condition. The blade has a very good edge and point with most of it's original finish and only light signs of corrosion. Nazi Waffenamt stamps on the pommel, but generally very lightly pitted on the exposed steel, with very good bakelite grips. The scabbard is in good condition, no denting, but lightly pitted like the bayonet handle, though fully matched to the bayonet.  Waffenamt stamped on the finial. Comes complete with genuine WW2 leather frog. A great addition to any K98 rifle.
