This is the model 1884/98 III  bayonet for the WW2 German Mauser K98 infantry rifle. Marked 44 fnj on the ricasso and scabbard for the year and maker, Alexander Coppel GmbH, with matching serial numbers. This bayonet is in very good condition, just showing light surface corrosion from age. The blade has a perfect edge and point with most of it's bluing. Very good bakolite grips and just light surface corrosion to Waffenamt stamped pommel, good crossguard and flashguard.  The scabbard is in equally good condition with no dents, Waffenamt stamped on the finial, complete with it's original leather frog in super condition.  Faintly marked to the rear and we can just make out 1942. A great addition to any K98 rifle, untouched since WW2.
