Mauser K98 bayonet, scabbard and frog, fully matched, Carl Eickhorn 1940

This is the model 1884/98 III  bayonet for the WW2 German Mauser K98 infantry rifle. Marked Carl Eickhorn 1940 on the ricasso, blade spine and scabbard for the year and maker, who made these bayonets from 1934 to 1944, with matching serial numbers of 1915a. This bayonet is in good condition, with excellent blade with perfect edge and point and nearly all it's factory blacked finish. The Waffenamt stamped pommel, crossguard and flashguard show a pleasant patina with some light signs of corrosion, very good backolite grips. Similar finish to scabbard, again some light signs of corrosion, no dents, Waffenamt stamped on the finial, fitted into genuine brown leather frog, possibly Luftwaffe, dated 1938 and maker marked Fried. Shafer Ulm/Do to rear with partial unit marking. Good rivets and strong leather but loose stitching at bottom of frog, and a good period repair above the frog stud. Interesting remains of purplish colouring to lower half of frog? A very nice addition to any K98 rifle.
