This is the model 1884/98 III  bayonet for the WW2 German Mauser K98 infantry rifle. Marked 44 asw on the ricasso and scabbard for the year and maker, E & F Horster, but sadly not matched serial number. This bayonet is in very good condition, the blade has a very good edge and point with most of it's original finish, no sharpening. The Waffenamt stamped pommel, crossguard and flashguard are lightly blacked, with good wooden grips. Good scabbard, no dents worth mentioning, little original finish remaining, period brazed repair to frog stud. A very nice addition to any K98 rifle.
