Kalashnikov AKM transitional Type 2 bayonet c/w scabbard and hanger SOLD

This is a bayonet and scabbard, designed to fit the Russian Kalashnikov AKM assault rifle. With no manufactures marks that I can find, it's hard to say who made it, but it is identical to Russian made examples. A very useful tool, not only a good fighting knife, but also doubling as a wire-cutter when the blade is engaged with the scabbard. Introduced in 1959 to fit the new improved AKM assault rifle, and was as revolutionary as the AKM itself. This example is known as a transitional Type 2, as it has a matching Type 1 steel scabbard. The Type 2 scabbard was fully plastic rather than steel, as a steel scabbard was strong, but not ideal when the wire-cutters were used on an electrified fence, even with the rubber sleeve! Comes with leather belt-hanger and wrist strap. In excellent unissued condition, with matching serial numbers.
