Post World War 2 bayonets and Knives
|
This is an Italian made M1 Garand bayonet and scabbard. The USA provided over 120,000 M1 rifles to Italy after WW2 under a military assistance program. At first they were US made, but then the Italians started to make their own, of which this is one, often using US parts. The scabbard is a reworked Italian WW1 style scabbard, leather painted green to look similar to the US item. This example is in good condition, with good grips and sound blade, a few stains on the webb frog. An interesting variant of this sought after bayonet. |
