Italian M1891 bayonet and steel scabbard **SOLD**

This is the Italian made Model 1891 bayonet as fitted to the Mannlicher-Carcano M1891 rifles that equipped Italian forces in both World Wars. Scabbards could be leather with metal ends or, as in this case, ribbed or plain all metal construction. This particular example is in generally good condition with sound blade, looking like it has been reworked, with Terni armoury stamp on the ricasso, serial number and maker mark on crossguard.  The blade is not quite straight and has been case hardened, and there is a crack in the surface on both sides about 8cm from the hilt, but it won't come apart! Good release button and near perfect grips, very good blacking to steel pommel and crossguard. The steel ribbed  scabbard is also good, typically very crudely made, with most of it's blacked finish.
