This is an inert and totally safe 7.92mm calibre short (kurz) cartridge, also known as 7.92mmK and was developed as a rifle cartridge before and during WW2 by Nazi Germany. Short refers to the case length of only 33mm, which filled a gap in terms of power and recoil between the full size 7.92 x 57mm Mauser K98 infantry rifle cartridge and the 9mm Parabellum pistol round, for use in an assault rifle which did not require the range but only the stopping power.
