Indian SMLE Bayonet No.1 mkIII* RFI made, 1944 dated
This is the Bayonet no.1 Mk III made at the Rifle Factory Ishapore (R.F.I.) for the Ishapore made SMLE rifles. The bayonet no.1 was a development of the Indian Pattern 1907 bayonet, which was in turn an Indian made British Pattern 1907 bayonet. This example is in super condition with very good blade with perfect point and edge. Marked on the ricasso with Mk.III* and the manufacturer R.F.I. under the Royal Cypher, with a date of 7 '44. The other side shows Ishapore inspection stamps and DP for 'drill purpose'. Very good wooden grips, and all of blacking on crossguard and pommel. Scabbard in very good condition, with 99% of blacking to throat and chape. A great addition for any Ishapore SMLE.
