Indian SMLE Bayonet No.1 mk II* RFI made, no scabbard, 1942 dated
Indian SMLE Bayonet No.1 mk II* RFI made, no scabbard, 1942 dated
This is the Bayonet no.1 mk II* made at the Rifle Factory Ishapore (R.F.I.) for the Ishapore made SMLE rifles. The bayonet no.1 was a development of the Indian Pattern 1907 bayonet, which was in turn an Indian made British Pattern 1907 bayonet. This example is in very good condition with perfect point and edge, with a polished finish to blade, crossguard and pommel, probably for parade use. Marked on the ricasso with the type Mk.II* and the manufacturer R.F.I. under the Royal Cypher, indicating issue to military imperial forces, with a date of 6 '42. The other side shows an Ishapore inspection stamps. Good wooden grips and release button. Sadly no scabbard, but a great addition for any Ishapore SMLE.
