Indian SMLE Bayonet No.1 mk I** Enfield made, no scabbard, 1915 dated
This is the Indian Bayonet no.1 mk I**, a British Enfield made Pattern 1907 bayonet modified during WW2 in India, then refurbished in 1956, for the Ishapore made SMLE rifles. This example is in very good condition with perfect point and edge, blued finish to blade, a nicely blacked ricasso, crossguard and pommel. Marked on the ricasso with the type Mk.I** under a removed Royal Cypher, above 1907 as the pattern, and a date of 8 '15 and EFD as the original manufacturer. The other side shows Ishapore and imperial inspection stamps, broadarrow mark and an Indian 1956 factory repair stamp FR56. Lovely inspection stamped wooden grips and good release button. Sadly no scabbard, but a great addition for any Ishapore SMLE.
