French Lebel M1886/35 cruciform bayonet and scabbard, matched s/numbers

This is the cruciform type 'epee' bayonet as fitted to the Lebel M1886 and Berthier M1907 rifles that equipped the French Army, and those of it's colonies, during WW1 and also into WW2. Introduced in 1886, this bayonet featured a hook quillon which soon disappeared during WW1, and was then reduced in length with a reduced length scabbard in the mid 1930s, as 'modern' military tactics no longer favoured a long bayonet. This particular example is in very good condition. The blade is in excellent condition. The scabbard is also in excellent condition with most of it's blacked finish and matching serial number to the bayonet. A very nice and unusual WW2 bayonet to compliment your Lebel or Berthier rifle.
