| This is the cruciform type 'epee' bayonet as fitted to the Lebel M1886 and Berthier M1907 rifles that equipped the French Army, and those of it's colonies, during WW1. Introduced in 1886, this bayonet featured a hook quillon which soon disappeared during WW1 in an attempt mainly to shorten production time, and a cupro-nickel handle was replaced with a brass one for similar reasons. This particular example is in very good sound condition. The full 52cm long blade is unbent and is in excellent condition. The scabbard is quite straight and undented, and has a good uncorroded finish to the steel surface. A very nice WW1 bayonet to compliment your Lebel or Berthier. Our price:£85.00 |
