This is the French T-back or T-section bayonet as fitted to the Gras M1874 rifle. The blade is in super condition, with excellent point and edge. Marked on the spine with the St.Etienne armoury and a date of October 1876, in french of course. Good wooden grips with brass pommel and sound working release button. Nice straight undented scabbard, with most of the blacked finish remaining. Matching serial numbers to scabbard and bayonet. A very nice bayonet that is nearly 150 years old!
