This is the French T-back or T-section bayonet as fitted to the Gras M1874 rifle. The 52cm blade is in very good clean straight condition, with very good point and edge. Marked on the spine the St. Etienne armoury and a date of March 1877, in french of course. Good wooden grips with black painted brass pommel and sound working release button. Nice sound straight and undented scabbard with just some very minor pitting, with most of the original blacking remaining. Most important, matching serial numbers to scabbard and bayonet.
