Pre-World War 1 bayonets
This is the French yataghan curved sword bayonet as fitted to the Chassepot M1866 rifle. A good straight blade with good point and edge with minor marks to the blade and some minor dings to the edge. Pitting to cross-guard, release spring and quillon, but all sound and complete. Good brass grips with working release button, and marked on the spine 'Manufacture Imperiale de Mutzig Mars 1868 for the place and time of manufacture. Sound scabbard with similar pitted surface with unusual matching serial number. A classic sword bayonet in good sound condition for it's nearly 150 years of age, from one of the less common makers.Our Price: £125.00 |
