Deactivated W.R. Pape 12-bore boxlock shotgun **SOLD**
This is a double-barrelled boxlock shotgun of side-by-side construction with 27 inch barrels, made by W.R. Pape of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, as marked between the two barrels and on the action sides. This company was formed in the 1850s, producing shotguns up until Pape's death in 1923 following a road accident. It is in super condition, with lightly cross-hatched hardwood rear and forestock and minimally engraved metalwork, with no signs of any corrosion to the steel. Serial number dates it to the early 1920s. This shotgun breaks, cocks and dry-fires on both barrels with a very precise action and it can be fully stripped. It would make a fabulous addition to anybody's hunting lodge, mounted over the fireplace! Two inert cartridges are included to compliment this classic vintage hunting shotgun. More are available seperately in the 'Inert Ammunition' section at £1.50 each, post free if ordered together. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.
