Deactivated Webley mkIII service revolver .38 calibre *SOLD*

This is the Webley mk 111 'military contract' revolver with 4 inch barrel, chambering the .38" S&W cartridge.  Equipped with a lanyard ring for service use, there is a broad-arrow stamp on the ring swivel. Of interest is the fact that the manufacturer's name on the barrel above the cylinder is 'P.Webley and Son, London & Birmingham', rather than 'Webley & Scott'. Webley merged with Scott in 1897, and presumably used up existing stock before making parts with the new name, so this would appear to be an early example. The mk111 was produced from 1897 to 1948, and the serial number on this example dates it to around the end of WW1. With matching serial number to frame and barrel, this pistol has excellent blacking and perfect grips, and is a lovely example of an unusual service side-arm. Can be cocked and dry-fired with a precise action, no play in the hinge, and capable of field stripping. Deactivated in the UK with proof-house certificate, to full UK specification.
