Deactivated Tokarev AVT-40 fully-automatic assault rifle 1942 dated SOLD

This is the fully automatic self loading rifle that equipped Russian troops during WW2. First developed in 1938 by Fedsor Tokarev as a semi-automatic rifle designated the SVT-38  and used during the invasion of Finland, it's shortcomings were addressed and after refinements made to it in 1940, it was redesignated the SVT-40. In 1942 a fully automatic version was introduced and designated the AVT-40. The AVT had a broader stock, marked with a large A on the butt, to increase strength, a simpler 4-hole muzzle break, and a 2-position safety catch that also operated as a fire-select lever, all of which are present on this example.  Complete with cleaning rod, correct sling and detachable magazine, this example is in very good condition, matching serial numbers except magazine, with excellent blued steel and only light marks to the laquer but no damage. Some stripping is possible around the breech cover and gas blow-back, and the action can be completely removed from the stock if desired. A clip of inert 7.62mm caliber cartridges is also included to 'complete' this very unusual vintage weapon. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.
