Deactivated Russian PM Makarov 9mm automatic pistol with holster, 1991 dated **SOLD**

The PM ( Pistolet Makarova ), designed by Nikolai Makarov,  was the result of a design competition to replace the 1930s Tokarev TT-33 pistol. Makarov designed his weapon to fire the Walther 9mm x 18mm cartridge, rather than the 19mm cased parabellum cartridge, so that captured Soviet ammunition would be unusable in NATO weapons that were designed to fire the standard 9x19mm round. As a result of this, although initially a Nazi Germany round, the 9 x 18mm round became known as the 9mm Makarov. The Makarov was formally replaced as a service pistol in 2003, but is still in use today with many Eastern European and former Soviet Republics, as well as China and North Korea. This example is a US import, marketed by Baikal as the model IJ-70, and is in very good condition with excellent blacking and good undamaged grips. It cocks and dry fires, and has a detachable magazine, and comes complete with good quality service leather holster and 2 rounds of inert 9mm ammunition to load into the magazine. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to current UK specification.
