This is the Mauser Model 1909 made by Waffenfabrik Mauser for the Peruvian Army between 1910 and 1914, and was basically their export version of the German Army's G98 rifle, complete with distinctive 'Lange Visier' rear-sights and parade hook on the upper barrel band for shortening the sling for parade use. This particular example is in lovely authentic condition with super woodwork, no damage and only minor marks refecting its 95 years of age. Very good steel retaining it's original finish, marked Waffenfabrik Mauser - Oberndorf A/N and Modelo 1909 on the right side of the breech. This rifle cocks and dry-fires and can be fully field stripped. An unusual Mauser rifle, and far less expensive than the near-identical German Army Gewehr 98. The inert rounds shown are not included with this rifle, but are shown to compliment this vintage rifle.
