Deactivated World War 1 rifles
This is the standard infantry rifle of the German Army during WW1, the iconic Mauser Gewehr 98, or more simply G98. The '98' relates to the first year of manufacture, 1898, and production continued till 1935 when it was replaced by the equally famous K98 carbine, both chambering the 7.92mm x 57mm cartridge. This particular example is in lovely original condition with super woodwork, bearing imperial crown stamps on the buttstock, and only minor knocks reflecting its age. Good steel retaining a lot of it's original finish, marked Danzig and dated 1900 on the receiver, with various imperial acceptance stamps. Most importantly and very unusual, matching serial numbers to barrel, breech and bolt, both bands and trigger guard, and even the screw heads, one digit out on sights- perhaps an armourer's mistake. Full working action and trigger but no dry-fire under current regs. Comes with repro cleaning rod and leather sling. Deactivated in the UK with certificate to UK/EU specification. Our Price: £795.00 |
