This is the French MAS model 1936 infantry rifle, designed in 1936 to replace the ageing Lebel and Berthier rifles from WW1. Chambered for a 7.5 x 54mm rimless round, the MAS was the last bolt-action rifle to be put into front-line service by a major power. This example was actually made shortly after WW2 in 1947/48 but is typical of the weapon that equipped the French troops at the start of WW2. In very nice condition, with very good furniture and an excellent even parkarised finish to the steel and complete with built-in bayonet. Matching serial numbers to bolt, breech, forestock, butt and trigger-guard, this rifle cocks and dry-fires and can be fully stripped, though a special screwdriver will have to made by grinding a small gap in the tip of the blade of a standard screwdriver. Comes with a leather sling. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.
Our Price: £325.00
