This is the French MAS model 1936 infantry rifle, known as the MAS 36, designed in 1936 to replace the ageing Lebel and Berthier rifles from WW1. This example is typical of the weapon that equipped the French troops at the start of WW2, and after the Germans retreated from France.  Production was halted in 1940, courtesey of the Wehrmacht, and resumed where it left off in 1945.  This particular example has a K prefix serial number, identifying it as being manufactured around 1939, prior to the surrender of the French Army.  It is in super authentic condition and of importance is the matching serial numbers on forestock, butt, trigger guard and breech. Comes complete with built-in bayonet, and a very nice original leather sling. This rifle cocks and dry-fires, and can be field stripped. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.
