This is a Martini-Henry mk II .450/577" calibre rifle, produced from 1877 till the late 1880's. This particular example was made at the Enfield factory in 1885, as marked on the breech side under the Victoria crown, and there are broad arrows and WD War Department inspection stamps in many places signifying British military use. Good complete furniture, with just an armourer's repair to the butt, and good steel with most of it's original finish. A good example of this widely used Victorian-era rifle, which saw service with the Empire until the end of WW1. Cocks and dry-fires, and able to be stripped, this rifle comes with an original cleaning rod and British army webbing sling. Interesting broadarrow marked windage adjustable rearsights fitted. Although of obsolete calibre, this rifle has been deactivated and holds a UK deactivation certificate, and this certificate will accompany the gun although it is not required.
