Deactivated Lee-Enfield SMLE rifle No1 mk3* Enfield 1916, ALL matched s/numbers **SOLD**

This is the standard infantry rifle of the British Army and the forces of it's Empire during WW1, the  Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mark 3*, made at the Enfield factory. The butt socket is clearly stamped with the Royal Cypher of George V, indicating military issue, the maker Enfield, date of 1916, and the model SHT.L.E. III*.  This rifle has all genuine furniture in lovely complete and authentic condition, although the upper handguards looks to have been replaced (these were prone to splitting), with unmarked brass butt-disc. The  metalwork is also in excellent condition, retains nearly all of it's original blued finish, with several inspection and broad-arrow stamps, and of most importance this rifle has all matching serial numbers to forestock, breech, barrel, bolt, rearsights and nose-cap making this a truly authentic example of this iconic rifle perfect for the reinactor or collector alike. Generally known as the SMLE mk3, this rifle cocks and dry-fires, has a detachable 10-round magazine and comes complete with correct  brass-ended  webbing sling and 5 rounds of inert .303 ammunition to load into the magazine (more available at £1.50 per round in the Inert Ammunition section).  Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.

Our price: £525.00
