| This is the standard infantry rifle of the British Army and the forces of it's Empire during WW1, the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mark 3*, made at the Enfield factory. The butt socket is stamped with the Royal Cypher of George V, indicating military issue, the maker Enfield, date of 1916, and the model SHT.L.E. III*. This rifle has all genuine furniture in lovely complete and authentic condition, with just the usual knocks expected on a service rifle of this age, with brass butt-disc. The metalwork is also in excellent condition, retains nearly all of it's original blacked finish, and of most importance has matching serial numbers to breech, barrel, bolt, and nose-cap, plus Canadian ownership stamps on breech and barrel, comprising a broadarrow within a large capital C. The rear-sights have been replaced with the more accurate, earlier and more desirable 'windage' type. A truly authentic example of this iconic rifle, issued to Canadian forces, perfect for the reinactor or collector alike. Generally known as the SMLE , this rifle cocks and dry-fires, has a detachable magazine and comes complete with correct brass-ended webbing sling. Five inert .303 rounds are included with more available seperately in the 'Inert Ammunition' section at £1.50 each. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.
