Deactivated Lee-Enfield SMLE mk3 BSA Co made dated 1939 with magazine cut-off ***SOLD***

This is the standard infantry rifle of the British Army during WW1 and the beginning of WW2, the  Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mark 3, made at the BSA factory in Britain. The butt socket is marked with the Royal Cypher of George V,  B.S.A. Co. followed by the date of 1939 and SHT. LE III. The BSA 'piled arms' logo is visible on the breech end of the barrel. This rifle has had full replacement genuine Enfield furniture which is in very good condition though not matching perfectly in colour, and displays the Enfield symbol on the forestock with acceptance stamp, and makers marks on the butt with broadarrow.  The butt is actually a No4 butt, which is usual with these rewooded SMLEs, as NOS SMLE butts are near impossible to find. Matching serial numbers to breech and barrel, with unstamped nose-cap. The metalwork still retains some of it's original blued finish, but there is some rust pitting around the breech and on the bolthead. Of interest is the magazine cut-off feature, which was deleted after 1915 on WW1 weapons to speed up production, but reintroduced after that war. Generally known as the SMLE mk3, this rifle cocks and dry-fires, has a detachable magazine and comes complete with genuine brass-ended webbing parade sling. A couple of inert .303 rounds are also included to load into the magazine with more available seperately in the 'Inert Ammunition' section at £1.50 each. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.

Our price: £375.00
