This is the standard infantry rifle of the British Army during WW1 and the beginning of WW2, the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mark 3, made at the BSA factory in Britain. The butt socket is marked with the Royal Cypher of George V, B.S.A. Co. followed by the date of 1939 and SHT. LE III. The BSA 'piled arms' logo is visible on the breech end of the barrel. This rifle has had full replacement genuine Enfield furniture which is in very good condition, and displays the Enfield symbol on the forestock, and makers marks on the butt and Canadian acceptance stamp. Matching serial numbers to breech and barrel, with unstamped rear sights and nose-cap.. The metalwork still retains some of it's original blued finish. Of interest is the magazine cut-off feature, which was deleted after 1915 on WW1 weapons to speed up production, but reintroduced after that war. The actual cut-off is not present, but the slot is, so it could be replaced if wanted, by hunting around at military fares etc. Generally known as the SMLE mk3, this rifle cocks and dry-fires, has a detachable magazine and comes complete with brass-ended webbing sling and WW2 pattern cleaning kit. A couple of inert .303 rounds are also included to load into the magazine with more available seperately in the 'Inert Ammunition' section at £1.50 each. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.
Our price: £395.00 All deactivated weapons sold by Jaybe Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold a London or Birmingham proof mark and certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly and is legal within the U.K. |
