Deactivated Lee-Enfield no4 mk1*rifle 1943 dated Savage made **SOLD**

This is a Savage made Lee-Enfield no4 mk1* rifle in lovely authentic condition, manufactured at the Chicopee Falls armoury in Massachusetts, and supplied to the British Army during WW2 under the 'Lend-Lease' agreement.  The * designation signifies that it was a modification to the mk1 specification, incorporating time saving alterations to the design, and manufactured at either Savage Firearms, USA or Long Branch Arsenal, Canada. An interesting rifle, as although 'Savage' marked and carrying a US format serial number, it is not stamped 'US Property' and furthermore has a Canadian acceptance mark stamped on the breech. Dated 1943, it has also undergone a 'Factory Thorough Repair' at Fazakerly. This example has very good original furniture, with the desirable fluted handguard and most of the original finish to the steel. Correct alloy butt-plate and later ladder-sight, and complete with webbing sling.   It cocks and dry-fires, with detachable magazine, and is fully strippable. An original WW2 infantry rifle in lovely condition.  Five inert .303 rounds are included, with more available separately in the 'Inert Ammunition' section at £1.50 each, post free if ordered with rifle. Correct 'Spike' bayonets available from £15 with scabbard. Deactivated in the UK to current specification.
