This is a Savage made Lee-Enfield no4 mk1* rifle in superb original condition, manufactured at the Chicopee Falls armoury in Massachusetts, and supplied to the British Army during WW2 under the 'Lend-Lease' agreement.  The * designation signifies either Savage Firearms, USA or Long Branch Arsenal, Canada, manufacture and it is also carries the 'flaming bomb' motif on the breech side.  This rifle has excellent original hardwood furniture, with the more desirable fluted handguard, with near perfect blacked finish to the steel. Matching serial numbers to breech, bolt and forestock. Fitted with correct steel butt-plate and the early milled steel ladder sights, and comes complete with correct webbing sling. Inert .303 ammunition is not included but is available at £1.50 per round in the 'Inert Ammunition' section, post free when ordered with the rifle. Cocks and dry-fires with detachable magazine, and is fully strippable. An original WW2 infantry rifle in excellent condition, it would be hard to find a better one.  Correct 'Spike' bayonets available from £20 with scabbard. Deactivated in the UK to current UK specification.
