This is a Savage made Lee-Enfield no4 mk1* rifle in lovely authentic condition, manufactured at the Chicopee Falls armoury in Massachusetts, and supplied to the British Army during WW2 under the 'Lend-Lease' agreement. The * designation signifies either Savage Firearms, USA or Long Branch Arsenal, Canada, manufacture and it is stamped US Property on the left side of the breech, and also carries the 'flaming bomb' motif. Dated 1942 on the butt socket, this rifle has very good genuine replacement hardwood furniture, and good original parkarised finish to the steel. Fitted with correct alloy butt-plate and the later pressed steel ladder sights, this rifle comes complete with webbing sling. Inert .303 ammunition is not included but is available at £1.50 per round in the 'Inert Ammunition' section, post free when ordered with the rifle. Cocks and dry-fires with detachable magazine, and is fully strippable. An original WW2 infantry rifle in lovely condition. Correct 'Spike' bayonets available from £18 with scabbard. Deactivated in the UK to current specification.
