This is a Savage made Lee-Enfield no4 mk1* rifle in lovely authentic condition, manufactured at the Chicopee Falls armoury in Massachusetts, and supplied to the British Army during WW2 under the 'Lend-Lease' agreement. The * designation signifies that it was a modification to the mk1 specification, incorporating time saving alterations to the design, and manufactured at either Savage Firearms, USA or Long Branch Arsenal, Canada, manufacture and it is stamped US Property on the left side of the breech. Although undated, all mk1* rifles were made in the mid-war years. This example has very good original furniture, and most of the original finish to the steel. Correct alloy butt-plate and early battle sights, and complete with webbing sling. It cocks and dry-fires, with detachable magazine, and is fully strippable. An original WW2 infantry rifle in lovely condition. The inert .303 rounds are not included, but are available separately in the 'Inert Ammunition' section at £1.50 each, post free if ordered with rifle. Correct 'Spike' bayonets available from £15 with scabbard. Deactivated in the UK to current specification.
