Deactivated German Mauser K98 infantry rifle 1940 dated **SOLD**
This is the standard german infantry rifle of WW2, full name the Mauser 'Karabiner 98 kurz', or K98k,(karabiner meaning carbine and kurz meaning short) having a shorter barrel than the earlier 'Gewehr 98'. Dated 1940 on the top of the receiver with a manufacturer code of 42 for Mauser AG, Oberndorf, this rifle is in very good clean condition. Very good laminated stock with correct plain steel buttplate and 'H' front band for year, very good blacked finish to the steel and several clear Nazi eagles and Waffenamt stamp on the breech, and good Heer and Waffenamt stamps on butt. This rifle is one of those captured by the Russians during WW2 and refurbished and put into storage, hence the very good condition. Able to be cocked and dry fired, and fully strippable, and comes complete with cleaning rod and a clip of inert ammunition with more available in the 'Inert Ammunition' section at £1.50 each. A lovely example of this popular infantry rifle. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.
