Deactivated French MAS Mle 36/51 infantry rifle, with grenade launcher, c/w bayonet **SOLD**
This is the French MAS model 1936 infantry rifle, known as the MAS 36, designed in 1936 to replace the ageing Lebel and Berthier rifles from WW1. This example is typical of the weapon that equipped the French troops at the start of WW2, as production was halted in 1940, courtesey of theWehrmacht, and resumed where it left off in 1945. They continued to be produced into the 1950's, and this particular example has the permenantly attached rifle grenade launcher with flip-up sights. It is in good sound condition, with very good woodwork, and very good parkarised finish to the steel, though some evidence of the deactivatrion work around the breech. Comes complete with built-in cruciform bayonet, and correct leather sling, French marked (not shown). This rifle cocks and dry-fires, and can be field stripped. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.
