Deactivated French MAS 36 infantry rifle, pre-WW2 manufacture, c/w bayonet **SOLD**
This is the French MAS model 1936 infantry rifle, known as the MAS 36, designed in 1936 to replace the ageing Lebel and Berthier rifles from WW1. This example is typical of the weapon that equipped the French troops at the start of WW2, as production was halted in 1940, courtesey of the Wehrmacht, and resumed where it left off in 1945 . This particular example has a K prefix serial number, and unshrouded foresight, identifying it as being made prior to the occupation of France by the German Army. It is in good sound condition, with very good woodwork, and good black painted finish to the steel, matching serial numbers to trigger guard and magazine floor-plate. Comes complete with built-in cruciform bayonet, and correct leather sling, though a post-war example. This rifle cocks and dry-fires, and can be field stripped. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.
