Deactivated French Berthier M1907/15, 1915 dated, all matched numbers, early spec

This is the french Berthier fusil Mle 1907/15 infantry rifle, initially designed by engineer Emile Berthier in the late 1880's. Lighter and easier to handle than the Lebel Mle 1886/93, its main drawback was it's minimal 3-round magazine capacity. The Mle 1907 was modified in 1915 to become the Mle 1907/15, but was issued only in small numbers to frontline troops to help with the lack of Lebel rifles, mainly because of its limited magazine capacity. The majority went to colonial troops and the Foreign Legion. The Mle 1907/15 was used up till the 1940s, though by then the magazine capacity had been increased to 5! This particular example is in very good original condition, manufactured at the St. Etienne Armoury (MAS), dated 1915 on the barrel, and with matching serial numbers to breech, bolt, trigger guard and stock, and able to be cocked, dry-fired and field stripped. Centre bayonet lug on barrel missing but does not effect bayonet fitting. Comes complete with original leather sling. Deactivated in the UK with proofhouse certificate of deactivation.
