This is an early WW1 .303 calibre Enfield Pattern 14, prefixed with W on the serial number for Winchester, who made these rifles under contract to the British Government along with Remington and their subsidiary Eddystone. Known more simply as the P14, it is a service rifle used during WW1 and issued to the Home Guard in WW2, until declared obsolete in 1947. These rifles were also popular for sniper use due to their greater accuracy than the SMLE. Typical of early examples this rifle has volley sights ( though not complete), and un marked regimental butt disc, and also a piling swivel. Lovely authentic woodwork on this rifle, with Winchester cartouche on the butt, with only very minor knocks you'd expect from a service rifle that's nearly 100 years old! Most of the original blued finish on the steel makes this a lovely authentic piece of history. Cocks and dry fires, and is fully strippable, and fitted with correct webbing sling. Inert rounds are not included but are available in the 'Inert Ammunition' section, no extra postage if ordered together. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.
