Deactivated Enfield P14 rifle, Winchester made, matching s/numbers **SOLD**

This is an WW1 .303 calibre Enfield Pattern 14 rifle, marked W on the receiver for Winchester, who made these rifles under contract to the British Government, along with Remington. Known more simply as the P14, it is a service rifle used during WW1 and issued to the Home Guard in WW2, until declared obsolete in 1947. These rifles were also popular for sniper use due to their greater accuracy than the SMLE. Typical of later examples this rifle has had the volley sight partially removed and the butt disc blanked off. The stock is in very sound original condition, showing some skillful armourers repairs. The original bluing to the steel is very good, and the bolt has matching serial number to the breech. This is a current spec EU deactivation, so will not cock and dry fires, but still had moving bolt and trigger and is mostly strippable. Comes with genuine webbing sling, and one full clip of inert rounds. A lovely authentic example of this popular rifle. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK/EU specification.
