This is an WW1 .303 calibre Enfield Pattern 14 rifle, with a W prefix to the serial number for Winchester, who made these rifles under contract to the British Government, along with Remington. Known more simply as the P14, it is a service rifle used during WW1 and issued to the Home Guard in WW2, until declared obsolete in 1947. These rifles were also popular for sniper use due to their greater accuracy than the SMLE. This example has good woodwork in very sound original condition with just a few knocks and lovely cartouches on the butt. The original bluing to the steel is very good, the bolt has matching serial number to the breech and the full volley sights are still fitted. Able to be fully stripped, cocked and dry fired, comes with good reproduction webbing sling. A lovely authentic example of this popular rifle. Deactivated in the UK with proofhouse certificate of deactivation.
