Deactivated Dutch Hembrug M95 cavalry carbine, 1919 dated, early spec
Designed originally by Ferdinand Ritter von Mannlicher in 1895 and manufactured at the Steyr works, this carbine was modified by the Dutch and produced at their Hembrug factory after 1904, equipping their armed forces up to WW2. Chambered for a 6.5 x 53mm round (one included), there were a number of versions for different troops. This example has the side sling points and wooden shield on one side of the magazine specifically for cavalry or bicyle troops. In very good original condition with lovely hardwood stock and nicely blued steelwork, marked on the breech Hembrug 1919 and with a plate on the buttstock marked 3-Inf.IV 77. An unusual carbine in lovely condition, able to cock and dry-fire and fully strip, and comes with one genuine inert 6.5 x 53mmR round to display with the gun . Deactivated in the UK with proofhouse certificate of deactivation.
