Deactivated Chinese Hanyang Type 88 infantry rifle **SOLD**

This is the Chinese Hanyang Type 88, so named after the factory that made it, the Hanyang Arsenal. It was produced from 1895 right up till just after WW2, and equipped the 'New Armies' of the Qing Dynasty, and then the National Revolutionary Army of the Republic of China. The Hanyang 88 was essentially a copy of the German Commission 88 rifle, without the barrel shroud and repositioned bayonet lug. With the same integrated box magazine, holding 5 rounds in an en-bloc clip, it chambered the regular German 7.92 x 57mm round. Modified twice during it's service life, in 1904 and again in 1930, this model is dated 1931 (31) on the receiver, and no doubt was used in the war with Japan. In very good authentic condition, with lovely undamaged stock, except for a small chip in the front of the upper hand-guard, and a pleasant patina to the unrestored steel, this rifle cocks and dry-fires, and can be fully stripped. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.
