This is a 12-bore double-barrelled boxlock action shotgun of side-by-side construction made by Charles Boswell of 126, The Strand, London, as marked faintly on the top of the full 30 inch barrels. A manufacturer of high quality, handmade sporting guns since 1869, they were at this address from 1884 till 1922, placing this shotgun between those dates. This example is in lovely condition, with classic cross-hatched hardwood rear and forestock, and lightly engraved metalwork. There is some sign of light corrosion, but careful cleaning will improve this. This shotgun breaks, cocks and dry-fires with a very precise action, and can be fully stripped. It would make a fabulous addition to anybody's hunting lodge, mounted over the fireplace! Two inert cartridges are included, with more available seperately in the 'Inert Ammunition' section at £1.50 each, post free if ordered with the shotgun. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.
