This is the last of the line of .303 caliber bolt action rifles from Lee-Enfield to be issued to British forces, the Rifle no5 mk1, also known as the Jungle Carbine, due to it being specifically designed for the war in the Far East and Burma. Production began in March 1944, and finished in December 1947. Manufactured at the BSA works at Shirley in Warwickshire, this rifle is a genuine No5 and marked No5 MK1, on the left breech side, and M47C for the factory code above a date of 1946 and the serial number on the left side butt socket. Lovely well matched hardwood furniture, with only minor knocks, matching serial number stamped on forestock and bolt, and good metalwork retaining almost all the original finish. A bonus is the bayonet lug still present, often removed. Comes complete with webbing sling and cocks and dry fires, with detachable 10-round magazine and correct 800yd ladder sights. Inert .303 bullets are not included, but are shown to compliment this classic weapon. These inert cartridges are available at £1.50 each in the 'Inert Ammunition' section. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.
